A modern renaissance man, Donald Glover's creative genius knows no bounds. The 34-year old California native has cultivated successful careers as a comedian, writer, director, actor, producer and singer songwriter. Under the moniker Childish Gambino, Glover transitioned from R&B-tinged rapper to psychedelic funk fusion frontman with the 2016 release of Grammy-winning album Awaken My Love. With new material reportedly on the horizon, the polymath rounds off his 2018 summer arena tour alongside Cutthroat Boyz trio member Vince Staples.
A landmark album for Glover, Awaken My Love heralded a new era of artistic respect for the gifted innovator. Fusing the tribalistic afro jazz of Herbie Hancock and his Headhunters with influences from Parliament to Prince, Glover emerged as an artist anew. Creating a mesmerising live narrative with album art visuals, retina-burning light and laser displays and a magnetic on stage presence, Glover and the latest incarnation of his Gambino persona firmly place him ahead of his time.
