Opera Colorado's current production of Tosca was arguably the most complete and highest quality Opera ever performed by the Company. First and perhaps foremost, the three character leads were first class artists. A regional opera company does not always attain this quality of performers. Tosca and "Mario" were both very extraordinary performers, great voices that projected well into the large opera house. The two "lovers" were balanced in quality, vocal force and believability; not usually the case in regional opera. Obtaining artists that have performed lead rolls at the Met is an amazing "get" for Opera Colorado. It was a thrilling performance that electrified the audience. Performers were both great singers as well as actors fully emoting their characters throughout; not an easy combination in the Opera world. The sets were outstanding; especially in Act 1 at the church. Overall, this performance rates an A. Congratulations Opera Colorado!!
