Why see Glen Hansard?

A Rich Pepertoire From The Irish Troubadour

All That Was East is West Of Me Now Tour

There's a chance that even if you haven't heard of this gravelly-voiced Irish singer-songwriter, you have heard his music before. After a career that started by busking on the rainy streets of Dublin, he formed The Frames in 1990 and then went on to star in the critically acclaimed film The Commitments, before finding international success in the indie mega-hit Once. For the latter, his song 'Falling Slowly' won an Academy Award in 2007 and the film subsequently went on to spawn a wonderfully intimate and unique Tony-winning stage musical.

Raised on what he describes as 'the holy trinity' of Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, Hansard has made an indelible mark with his indie-blues infused sound that fits his confessional, growly vocal perfectly. Don't miss what is sure to be an engaging and emotional evening in the company of the man himself.

Incredible performance at the Orpheum in Boston, Wild Willing Tour

To the people knocking Glenn for telling the audience to be quiet and listen... grow up? People paid good money to see him and I wish more bands chastised talkers. This show was incredible. Yes, very loud at times. I always bring earplugs. Volume was used as a dramatic accent to this performance with quiet sections that grew into great crescendos of sound and light with intense emotional outpouring from Glenn on stage. It was like being in a movie. I've never quite seen a show like it and it was worth every penny. I've been to two of his shows and they were both very different and incredible. Glenn was very careful not to be political during the show. Several times he stopped to explain a song and how it wasn't about anything going on currently and named no names. It's clear Glenn cares very much about the performance he gives and if you're the kind of person who likes his music and is considerate of others at such performances, you'll probably enjoy any of his shows. ... Emotional, Energetic Magic

Anyone who was fortunate enough to be at Glen Hansard’s show at the Granada in Dallas was witness to true concert magic. I’ve been a fan of Mr. Hansard’s music for a long time and was excited about going to the show. I was expecting a low-key mellow evening; but, instead, he put on a show that was truly over the top in emotion, energy, and musical talent. Mellow it was not. Even the slow ballads were full of energy and sincerity. It was a concert that makes you love the artist even more. I’ve been playing and listening to every Glen Hansard song I can get my hands on. I even looked to see if, perhaps, I could fly to the next venue to watch him again. Mind-blowing show!!! ... Read more

Ok...concert's tonight so...

... I haven't yet seen the show, but this will be my fifth time seeing Glen live. I feel the need to come to his defense, as if he is going to travel around the world to perform his music for people, they should give him the respect that he deserves while he's performing. It cannot be easy being on the road all the time, and he can be forgiven for getting frustrated when somebody treats the experience like they're riding public transportation and not watching a musical performance. If the concert-goer was loud enough to be disruptive, they had to be quite loud, as Glen's sets are not known for being quiet. Hopefully, the lesson learned is that it's only common courtesy not to speak during a show. Not to mention that Glen is the best performer you will ever have the privilege to see. Personally, I wouldn't want to miss a minute of his ingenius performance. ... Read more
