Why See Colorado Symphony Orchestra - Beethoven?
Recognizing The Work Of Beethoven
Grammy Award-winning composer, Hands Graf takes center stage in leading the Colorado Symphony in performing Beethoven classics. One of the worlds most recognized composers and pianists, Beethoven remains one of the most influential of all musicians. He was a crucial figure in the movement between the Classical and Romantic eras in music.
Beethoven Overture to Egmont, Op. 84: a piece full of fire and power, one of Beethoven's most forceful pieces of music.
Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37: a composition which was dedicated to Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia. Pianist Inon Barnatan joins the ensemble as a featured soloist.
Beethoven Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op 68 'Pastoral': a piece which transports the audience through the Viennese countryside, full of texture and color.
Did You Know?
Beethoven's first performance of Piano Concerto No. 3 was performed in its entirety off an incomplete score! His friend, Ignaz von Seyfried turned pages for him that night, and later wrote; "I saw almost nothing but empty pages...for he played all the solo part from memory".
Opening night: 30 November 2018
