Ingrid Fliter Performs Chopin
The Colorado Symphony Orchestra welcomes special guest and world renowned German conductor Jun Markl and Argentinian piano superstar Ingrid Fliter for a decidedly French-flavored program. The evening begins with Chopin's Second Piano Concerto, during which Fliter will take the solo spotlight. A foremost interpreter of the Polish-born, Parisian emigre's works, Fliter will match its virtuoso passages with her passionate playing and powerful key touch.
This is followed by Debussy's whimsical La Mer, an imaginative invocation of the sea inspired by childhood trips to the Mediterranean. The program comes to a close with Ravel's La Valse, a choreographic poem that pays tribute to the glittering art form of the Viennese Waltz. Beginning with dancers slowly emerging from melodic mists, the piece picks up until a whirling dervish pace climaxes in a stunning orchestral frenzy.
