The poppy Broadway musical about the terror of a first date!
Boy meets girl in First date, the winning Broadway musical that's a hilarious exploration of vulnerability and first dates nerves. Written by Austin Winsberg, Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, the story follows twenty-somethings Aaron and Casey as their blind date turns into a series of disasters. But will a romance emerge on the other side? The show premiered on Broadway in 2013, with Chuck star Zachary Levi among the cast, and has since become a favorite for local theatre companies nationwide.
Boasting sitcom patter, and a Billboard Top 40-esque score, First Date is a breezy, accessible musical for the lovebirds in all of us.
Blind dates are scary things, and more often than not, they don't really work. So Aaron and Casey's expectations aren't too high when they get together at a New York restaurant on the advice of Casey's matchmaking sister. It doesn't help that both of their friends and family members are keen on influencing the night's events, either by constantly phoning the restaurant to check on their progress or swimming through the couples subconsciousness, offering sage dating advice. Can Aaron and Casey overcome their differences, upbringings, psychosis, annoying habits and fears of commitment? You'll have to see for yourself.
