CHICAGO/REO MANSFIELD MA

As a many many decades fan of CHI I got what I wanted Sunday evening. Something from Chicago that i've never heard before in concert. The rendition of Chicago II was great...especially Fancy Colours, In the Country, It Better End Soon, and Poem for the People. The second part of their set were about 10 or so of the basic chestnuts usually performed. Enjoyed all (except the power ballads) and look forward to their 2019 tour. I find the comments interesting about being surprised / disappointed about the CHI set-list for this concert. A brief check of their website (starting months ago) would have shown you the plan for 2018. I bought tickets to this event not giving 2 hoots about REO but I sat there as an adult enduring their sound and applauded respectfully after all songs. Get a grip folks.........it's music.......and two completely different bands/ sounds / styles.

LAKEVIEW IS OUR FAVORITE.

Syracuse has a lot to be proud of with the Lakeview venue. Great place to see a concert. Yes, it was loud. People covered their ears at times. As for the concert I'm not a huge REO fan but I will say they came to please and the audience was thrilled. As for Chicago this was our 7th time seeing them in 2 yrs. We go because they have a special unique sound and are incredible musicians. Of course we love to hear their hits. Going through their second album left the audience confused and anxious to hear what they came to hear. Great solos by Keith the lead guitar player and their new percussion team. Felt the solo sung by Lou Pardini was out of place in that venue but again it was part of the 2nd album. Outside of that they were fantastic. Once bands like Chicago and EWF stop we will really miss those horn sections. I'm sure Chicago will rethink their song list next year. The've been giving people what they wanted for 50 yrs. Give them a break. Thank God for Chicago!!

REO IS FANTASTIC !! CHICAGO NEEDS TO LISTEN TO THEIR FANS !!

REO was amazing last night. Brought the entire amphitheater back to the Good Old Days. Everybody singing along, cheering, clapping and dancing. What a great time. Chicago although great musicians, seem to be playing for a Las Vegas hotel. Everybody just sat in astonishment. Most of the band members are new, and it seems that the group is not Chicago at all If they would play popular Chicago songs throughout from beginning to end, and not just the second album. The fans would not leave, and go home. Really disappointed. With all that said, the Venue is great. I love the outside space. Easy to maneuver, and close to all amenities so your not away from your seats long. Everyone is helpful, and quick to serve you in all areas. Love going to the Mid Florida Amphitheatre.

CHICAGO GOT THE RIGHT AUDIENCE!

Despite a stormy night with a complete shut down of the venue at one point Chicago blew Raleigh away. The audience instead of being put off by a little band history lesson, actually listened to the complex early works. They and the responding audience started to work together to create a great concert experience. Those guys worked theiir @sses off. I didn't know what to expect after reading other reviews. Damn glad I ignored them. One of top 10 shows I've been to. That's our of nearly 100 of all types of acts. Chicago is a sure ticket whenever they come around again.

CHICAGO ROCKED, REO WAS LAME

I've never been a huge REO Speedwagon fan. I was at Wednesday night's concert to see Chicago. I've seen Chicago many times and they always rock. I'm a huge fan of the horns. REO sounded weak and the bass was way too much. The overall sound of the band was tired and worn out. They played all of their wimpy ballads and very few of the songs that actually rock. I knew going into the concert that Chicago was going to play their second album from beginning to end. I knew that I wouldn't know many of the songs so I just had to wait it out until midway through their set list. The wait was well worth it. I know I'm in the minority here. Chicago rocked their songs while REO was a huge disappointment. Chicago's show was a huge success even without Peter Cetera.

REO IS THE BEST, CHICAGO HAS AN EGO PROBLEM

REO was outstanding as they always are. High energy, great sound. Played all the songs we all grew up with and love. Chicago, not sure where the thought process was. Chicago 2, albeit a great album, is not what we were all there for. Was going to leave at intermission, but talked the wife into staying. Second half of show was fantastic, but lots a lot of people with the first half and playing Chicago 2.

REO - ROCKED IT - CHICAGO - HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

REO Speedwagon put on an awesome show. Kept you excited and in the concert mood. I would go see them again in a heartbeat. Chicago, very disappointing. started with a 45 instructmental piece which felt like I needed to leave and go striaght to bed. They saved all the popular songs for last wihich at that point most of the crowd had already left because it was not interesting at all. Would not ever spend money to watch them in concert again. Budweiser Stage was awesome, first time there and loved the stadium.
