Colorado Symphony play Brahms' dignified Requiem
Conductor Peter Oundjian leads the Colorado Symphony Orchestra through Brahms' dignified masterpiece, "A German Requiem". It's a piece slightly different to other requiems; rather than being a mass from the dead as would usually be expected, this one is intended as a soothe for those who remain after the passing of a loved one.
Soloists from the Colorado Symphony Chorus star in this much admired piece which uses passages from the Lutheran Bible in German, as opposed to the usual Latin passages from the Catholic Bible found in other requiem's. Also on the program are Ravel's "Sheherezade" and Weber's "Oberon" overture.
