With animals from the Denver Zoo!
Step into a bustling menagerie with this delightful program for the whole family from the Colorado Symphony. First, a trip to the zoo with Camille Saint-Saens' bewitching representation of the animal kingdom complete with bouncing kangaroos, flittering birds, stomping tortoises, elephants and the glorious life of the aquarium (among many more). It's instantly recognizable and great for introducing your little ones to the magic of the orchestra.
Composed in 1886, Saint-Saens originally meant it to be a practice piece for his students and never published it during his lifetime. The legend of his wonderful private performances endured though, and in 1922, a year after his death, the public got to hear what has become his most enduring work.
