REDUNDANT CHOREOGRAPHY

Overall a beautiful performance. Great costumes! The dancers were quite skilled but the choreography left A LOT to be desired. Poor choices for the sugar plum couple, they were clearly capable of more elaborate dancing, but quite stunted by the poor, redundant choreography this year. Pas de deux performances were sub par.

THEY SHOULD ADVERTISE THIS AS A NEW TWIST ON A CLASSIC

The second half of this has so little of the actual nutcracker story in it that it was hard to follow, if that is what you're expecting. The costume for the sugar plum fairy is garish compared to other seasons. The choreography is sub-par and has led the dancers astray, as they clearly have the abilities to do much more. Do a masters show to be creative as a choreographer, but give us the Nutcracker when we pay to see the Nutcracker. For some of us and our children still the first time we are seeing it!

GREAT FOR CHILDREN, NOT IMPRESSIVE

The ballet that was performed was decent, if underwhelming, but the experience was cheapened by the attempts at modernization. There were Tik tok dances, cheesy jokes, and the Macarena . Yikes. It was embarrrasing to watch and I found myself trying to defend why I brought my date to this event. This was their first ballet experience and I was so ashamed. This version seemed more like a school play with all the childish humor. Not to mention the venue allows food and drinks so you will listen to ice rattling and popcorn bags crinkling the whole time. This performance and venue lacks etiquette, class, and was more like a mockery of the traditional Nutcracker ballet. Seriously disappointed.
